The Berlin Wall was approximately 165 km long and actually enclosed west Berlin, not East Berlin as we all believed. West Berlin was surrounded by the Communist held East Germany. West Berliners could come and go and visit their East German counterparts, but the East Germans could not visit West Berlin. Many tried to climb the wall or swim the river trying to cross over and were either shot, going over the top, or when they were crossing the twenty metres of no-mans land.

All over Europe there is still re-construction and rebuilding after the war. Over 60 years on.

Made out of compressed cardboard, this vehicle was used by the East Germans. And apparently it was being repaired more times than it was on the road.
